About A&M Farms

About A&M Farms:

A&M Farms was founded in 2013 in regards to direct marketing our cattle.  Our farm is family owned/operated by Michael Parris, Amanda Parris, and Kathy Surratt. Each of our founders were born and raised on family farms just like our cattle making our farming experience 100+ years.

Background:
Michael is originally from Smyth County, Virginia.  He attended and graduated from Chilhowie High School. He pursued his under graduate education from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg where he studied animal science.  Michael currently works full-time with Virginia Department of Fire Programs. He is the Division 4 Fire Chief.

Amanda is originally from Carroll County, Virginia. She attended and graduated from Carroll County High School. She pursued under graduate studies through Ashford University in biology and business management. She attended the American School of Equine Dentistry and operates selectively Blue Ridge Equine Dentistry.

Kathy is a native to Carroll County and has lived here for 60+ years. She is the mother to Amanda.  Kathy grew up on a dairy farm operated by her mother which was bought out during the 1980’s dairy buy out. The farm then transitioned to a beef cattle operation and her father still runs cattle there today at the ripe old age of 92. Kathy now spends her time helping around our farm, serving as “Nana” to both Larkin and Autumn and could very well be considered our backbone.

Autumn Bourne and Larkin Parris are our children Autumn is currently in high school. Larkin well he is just a wee little tot but the sky is the limit and we sure hope he enjoys the farm as much as we do.
